Classic Adaptations : John Fenner
I started making these recordings as a means of passing some time during the lockdown period of the Covid-19 pandemic, and found them to be an enjoyable and rewarding occupation. Click on the links below.
Link 1 Box and Cox is a one act farce by John Maddison Morton. Adapted in this transmission by John Fenner (left), it is based on a French one-act vaudeville, Frisette, which had been produced in Paris in 1846. Box and Cox was first produced at the Lyceum Theatre, London, on 1 November 1847, billed as a "romance of real life." The play became popular and was revived frequently through the end of the nineteenth century, with occasional productions in the twentieth century. It spawned two sequels by other authors, and was adapted as a one-act comic opera in 1866 by the dramatist F. C. Burnand and the composer Arthur Sullivan, Cox and Box, which also became popular and continues to be performed regularly. Other musical adaptations were made, but have not remained in the repertory. The phrase "Box and Cox" has entered the English language: the Oxford English Dictionary defines it as "applied allusively to an arrangement in which two persons take turns in sustaining a part, occupying a position, or the like."
Link 2 The Ghost of Art: A Story by Charles Dickens : A man becomes haunted by a beard.

Vicki McKellar : Astro Realm
I became interested in Astrology first in my teens when I picked up Linda Goodman's Sun Signs book. Although the book was very in depth, I was hungry for more knowledge as I felt that the information given for my Sun Sign, Scorpio, wasn't the full picture. Bearing this in mind, I started to find out where other planets in my chart were placed, like the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars etc. I knew that I had then stumbled upon a subject which was to interest me to this current day. 10 years ago, after years of reading astrology books, I enrolled in a 3 year Diploma Course at Frank C Clifford's London School Of Astrology and I passed my exams with a Distinction. 5 years ago, I undertook Deborah Houlding's STA Grads course in Horary Astrology, an ancient branch of astrology, whereby you can ask a direct question at a specific time, and on carefully studying the chart and where the planets are placed, you can glean the answer - yes or no.
More recently, I have drawn up birth chart of pop icon, Boy George, and given him predictions. I am due to give him another reading next year. I'm also in the process of drawing up the birth chart of a famous model/TV star. My website is : www.astrorealm.co.uk

Christopher Gee : “AN AUDIENCE WITH THE STARS”
The advantage of being married to an Impressionist is that you never know who you are going to bed with. That is according to Lindi, the wife of TV Comedy Impressionist Christopher Gee.
The couple met many years ago when Lindi was a Big Band Singer and Chris was a Bluecoat as Pontins Seacroft in Hemsby Norfolk. Having been married for over 33 years, Lindi is the Personal Manager for Christopher, and the couple live life performing on land and sea (when it returns!) with Christopher Gees’ unique One Man Comedy Impression Show – “AN AUDIENCE WITH THE STARS”
Unlike Maidenhead born Christopher, his wife Lindi was born in the North East into a show business family. Christopher is the only one in his family to tread the boards as a Comedy Impressionist, Actor, Look and Sound a like and Voice Actor.
Having spent years in Youth Theatre Christopher gained a place in Drama School but was unable to secure funding and so that took him on a different Entertainment path.
In addition to his countless Voice Over work, Christopher used his Actor Training in developing a unique one man stand up Comedy Impression Show “AN AUDIENCE WITH THE STARS” which has played to 1000’s of people both on Land and at Sea. His first paid show was at the Wooburn Grange Country Club in Buckinghamshire, which was more famously known as the outside Hotel shot for Fawlty Towers.
From that day he worked his way to perform with some of the biggest names in Showbusiness and has performed many times on National prime time Television and Radio.
Since then he has performed for many Companies such as,
Fred Olsen Cruises, Thomson Gold, Tui, Marella Cruises, Warner Hotels, Shearings Holidays, Saga Cruises, CMV Cruises, 100s of Social Clubs, Hotels both here and abroad, Retirement groups, Theatres, Charity Events, Golf Clubs, Masonic Groups, Rotary Groups, plus many more.
Christopher explains that as a Comedy Impressionist it is very important to present a mix of both current and classic characters in the show. His shows are of different formats according to the event and demographic and could include impressions and homages to the likes of:
Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Stavros Flattely, And ant Dec, Simon Cowell, John Bishop, Paul O'Grady, Sarah Millican, Michael Mcintyre, Robert De Niro, Allan Carr, Peaky Blinders,Only Fools and Horses, Allan Bennett, Jethro, Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Connolly, Joe Pasquale, Peter Kay (as Brian Potter), Paddy McGuiness, Keith Lemon, Characters from Little Britain, Gordon Ramsay, Will I am, Tom Jones, Meatloaf, Neil Diamond, Bob Geldorf, Ian Dury, Johnny Cash, The Simpsons, The Muppetts, Liam Neeson, Al Pacino, David Dickinson, Roy Orbison, Ray Winston as well as Tributes to our Comedy Legends including Dave Allen, Eric Morecambe,Tommy Cooper, Frankie Howerd, Norman Wisdom plus many more.
Audiences are truly amazed at the fact that Christopher not only sounds like the stars he is impersonating but that he takes on all the physical mannerisms and looks like the Stars as well. Christopher welcomes the chance to entertain audiences both large and small on KSWN.

Vernon Hopkins : Just Help Yourself
Just Help Yourself tells the classic story of the difficult path to fame trod by so many bands and artists in the 1960s. The story of Rhydyfelin rock group The Senators (later the Squires), of founder Vernon Hopkins' discovery of Tom Jones, and their launch towards international stardom. This is the bands story from their gigging days in south Wales when Tom and Vernon were as close as brothers, to their eventual and inevitable painful falling out in 1969 when Vernon and the band were cast aside by manager (and fellow South Walian) Gordon Mills: since then Hopkins has seen Tom on only a handful of occasions. This is a no-holds-barred account of their time together, gigging in Working Men's Clubs in South Wales, then living a hand to mouth existence in London, waiting for their breakthrough. When fame finally did arrive, with it came the uncoupling of the star singer from the band by an unscrupulous manager. Just Help Yourself gives new insight into Tom Jones himself, and into the world of pop music in the Sixties and early Seventies in a grittily authentic narrative. Hopkins experienced both the pop star high life, touring America, Australia and Europe with Tom, and the low points. The music business really was and is as cut throat as reported. Rachel Hopkins : 'Nourish' - Health & Good Food
I’ve had a career in health and fitness that has spanned decades, a passion for achieving great health came after a battle with Anorexia as a teenager, I truly believe that one of the reasons I healed so well from this that so many suffer from was due to my knowledge and path into the health and wellness industry . Spending so much time in the fitness industry along with presenting many different shows has meant that I’ve seen many fitness “fads” come and go...some probably wouldn’t pass health and safety these days! As I’ve seen the industry boom I’ve also seen extreme measures taken by so many people in search for the perfect physical appearance..it has always been my quest to educate people that health and fitness is a whole process not just one thing so attention should be spend on nutrition and mental wellbeing too, to truly become your best self. I’ve also seen many extreme diets and look to examine exactly what the healthiest principles are and how to apply it to anyone’s life to help reach great health and wellness. I’m also a huge believer that self care is paramount so will be delving into what are the best ways to make sure we all give ourselves what we need to deal with the growing pressures that we know in today’s world. I’m excited to be able to say that it won’t just be me giving my opinions but I will be looking to leading experts in this field and bringing a wide spectrum of knowledge from all different backgrounds and subjects to do with health and lifestyle. If it’s something to do with feeling great and getting the best from health and fitness I will be bringing it to your screens for you to enjoy and reap the benefits from to!

Darren Hembrow : Earth Calling The Universe
Born in Swansea, I had a fairly normal upbringing, although like many, could have had better incidents in life, coming from a big family on one side and having met many relatives, a lot are sadly no longer with us, my mother included.
When I reached the fine age of 16, my mother said that on an upcoming Saturday, she was going to see a medium, and me being me, a big fan of horror and all things creepy decided that I would go along with her.
That Saturday I will always remember, because it was the first time I was going to see a medium, and sadly, there was nothing spooky or creepy in relation to it all. I will be honest, I was expecting dark lights, old ladies wearing black veils, and crystal balls on the table.
I was more taken aback by a lady wearing a white tee shirt and jeans… where was the spooky stuff – it wasn’t there. I was however, very much hooked!
Within a few weeks, I started in their development classes to be able to do it myself, and the more I researched into Spiritualism and mediumship over the years, the more I wanted to bring the perceptions of people up to speed that it is nothing like the films, it is a perfectly normal process that many people can develop in their lives.
The spiritual journey has taken me across all of South Wales, Essex, south Coast of England and the USA, demonstrating and teaching hundreds of people over the last 30 years on being within the movement.
There are still a lot of things that I am curious about, and also look into things logically, not everything is a haunting!
I love listening to people experiences in such things, when people say they have sensed their loved ones around them, and to see the joy on their faces when I give a message and confirm certain things to them, breaking down barriers of grief and pain and by faith and even questioning ‘how did he know that?’ giving evidence that death is but a door, and the threshold is crossed in both directions.
Many have asked me for the winning lottery numbers – only natural – I’ve I could get them, I certainly would; but just for myself! Ha.
I would love to write a book about spirit, about me and my beliefs, and although associated within Spiritualism, I would consider myself an Omniest, a believer that all faiths lead to the Divine.
I make my spirit work fun and uplifting – physical life it far too short to be miserable

Jeff Phillips : Three Nights of Lighting:
Three Nights of Lighting: Swansea during the Blitz, February 1941. How many Swansea natives have heard of Vannes? This small town on the North Western coast of France hasn’t made much of a mark on history, but in February 1941 its occupiers left a permanent mark on Swansea. On the nights of February 19th, 20th and 21st Luftwaffe Pathfinder units took off from their airfield in Vannes and headed across the English Channel. Swansea’s port, docks and oil refinery made it a key strategic target, and in this remarkable painting Jeff Phillips depicts the home town he loves as a flaming cauldron, ravaged by sustained attacks that rained down 35,000 incendiary bombs and 800 high explosive bombs. Children lost parents and parents lost children. Thousands lost their homes. The word “blitz” is so familiar in English that it’s easy to forget its origins. It’s the German word for “lightning”. In February 1941 lightning struck Swansea tens of thousands of times. It burned, it demolished and it killed. And from that devastation, Swansea would rise again.

Miho Kaito : 'Calling Keanu...'
I have been trying to shoot a documentary film which happened to me 25 years ago. Please allow me to tell you about it, but it is LONG! So please read it when you have plenty of time and when you feel like it.
When I briefly went back to Japan to help my parents, I had the hardest time. One day the TV was on, I kind of looked at an actor who was the n the movie that was on and I heard the voice clearly “Go find out!” It was a de javu.
I had seen him but didn’t know anything about him, but my soul knew him—he looked so familiar. I checked his profile and couldn’t believe my eyes. His background was so much like mine. At that time it really helped me so much just to know that person exists. As an artist, I wanted to do an art piece in the place he grew up and go acknowledge him in person. He had become a movie star in Hollywood already so nobody thought I would meet him, but I know I will.
All I knew was that the actor was doing Hamlet on stage in Canada six months from that time. I got myself a working holiday visa and moved to Toronto where the actor grew up. I got a job the next day I arrived. And again I started meeting all these key people who knew him and his family when they were there. That helped me to decide what I wanted to express. I got a ticket for the play in Winnipeg and had my art piece. I did meet him. He called me the next day as promised, invited me to his pent house. He loved my art piece we had a nice visit. I left because I knew he had an evening performance. Then I realized after we talked, I had so much I wanted to talk to him about. I started writing in a blank notebook I happened to have with me once I went back to the place I was staying and soon it became a book full of crayon drawings and my thoughts. All I had to say was out of my system and I felt wonderful. I no longer needed that book. I went back to TORONTO as planed and found out I got laid off. I took it as a sign to go back to a Winnipeg to give that book to him. Went to a travel agency and booked myself a ticket to fly back to a Winnipeg again without knowing how and where I would meet him. I went to this cafe in Winnipeg the next day and the next moment there he was, he was walking down the street. I went up to him and explained why I had to come back. He had a shiatsu appointment but told me to meet me at that cafe as soon as he finish shiatsu. He came in an hour. We talked, I sung my song, recited poem. I did all I needed to do and gave my book. He went back to Hollywood the next day and I to Toronto. I few days later my Canadian roommate told me that she saw a magazine he did a long cover interview. I was surprised since he was known to hate interviews. I read it and all he talked about in the interview was what I wrote in the book I gave him. I never had a romantic feeling towards him but I KNOW him and always missed him. Perhaps I was his his mother in another life or the same person.
I still think this six to nine months back in 1994-95 was a journey of meeting my missing pieces. I still wonder about six degrees of separation and stuff. It truly was such a powerful magical period of time.
So I have been meaning to do something about it. I saw him again when he came to Japan with his band. I will be 50 next year and decided to be nice to myself and give myself some time to think and make the documentary.
I look forward to working alongside PT Rose in the making of this film.
